What It Is What's Been Done What's Next What You Can Do     2005 Summit More than 400 concerned citizens showed up to discuss the planned growth of the county. 2006 SWOT Analysis Summit volunteers put their time and talent together to study and create an analysis of the area¹s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. 2007 Summit Four initiatives identified and undertaken by the committee were reported on to the community at a second large gathering. Initiatives included: Health Care Neighborhood Pride Local Purchasing Education American Assembly September 24, 2008. A Special Session of the Economic Development Summit centered on ³Building A 21st Century Economy in Northeastern Pennsylvania² was held at the Scranton Hilton Hotel from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Health Care Initiative: Chaired by Margo Opsasnick, president of Delta Medix, this subcommittee has succeeded in meeting its ultimate goal of organizing a grassroots petition effort to secure Medicare/Medicaid funding for Lackawanna County. A bill was passed at the end of September 2007 to secure increased funding.
