Neighborhood Pride Initiative
Five
projects have been identified by the
Neighborhood Pride Committee to clean up during
the Spring of 2009. They include two vacant lots
on Pittston Avenue in South Scranton and three
vacant lots in Carbondale, one of which will be
turned into a community garden.
Clean up will begin April 4. To join in
and help, please meet at 8:00 a.m. at the Hill
Neighborhood Association, 419 Prescott Avenue.
Others Ways To
Help:
· All Neighborhood Pride activities are posted
on WNEP.com’s Power To Save Program page. Check
out the calendar of events to participate in
“pride” projects throughout the region.
· Contact Neighborhood Association President
Mary Alice Burke to reach out to other areas in
Lackawanna County.
Update:
The Committee is seeking a company or group to
“adopt” the West Scranton Bridge Project which
was cleaned up and painted through a major
Neighborhood Pride collaboration last Spring.
Adoption would entail keeping the area clean of
litter and trimmed of overgrowth.
Join in the movement to
keep our community safe, strong and growing.
