In October 2005, sanofi pasteur and VaxServe presented an Economic Development Summit for the commercial and residential community of Lackawanna County. The intent of the Summit, entitled ³Proud Past. Promising Future.² and moderated by Frank Epifano, vice president of finance, was to enhance economic cooperation among various constituencies and conclude with recommendations to spur economic revitalization.

The three-panel Summit, open to the public, explored the historical, current and future economic growth and development of Lackawanna County. More than 400 people representing business and industry, government, academia, health care and various community and nonprofit organizations attended, ready to listen, share ideas and make a difference.

The first panel, Our Heritage: How Has It Helped, How Has It Hurt, explored Lackawanna Countyıs past, examining what has been accomplished and what has not. Our Here and Now: What Have We Accomplished? What Have We Not? was discussed by the second panel.
Panel three took a look at Our Hopes. What Are Our Economic Goals? What Do We Do To Get There?

Keynote speaker Carolyn Boser Newhouse, board member of the TEAM Pennsylvania Foundation and President of SuperUser Technologies, Inc., Bradford, PA., presented valuable ideas on how to strengthen the economy of Lackawanna County, and contribute to the enhanced quality of life of its citizens.
